All Mounds Matter raises $50k

This year’s second annual All Mounds Matter 5K fundraiser took place on October 29 with the goal to raise money to help those with cancer, and organizers for the event did just that. This year, they raised $50,000 for Cancer Services and almost doubled what they raised at last year’s event.
“I think that anytime a community comes together to help support not only friends and family, but also many more they will never meet, is a successful event,” said Joshua Pratt, owner of Savage Roasters in Kernersville and the creator of the event. Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America was founded in a small town in Maine in the early 2000s, quietly making waves across the country, leading to it becoming a widely recognized day. Two decades later, it’s a national day to celebrate and honor veterans who have passed on.
On Saturday, December 16, Wreathes Across America is coming back to Kernersville. The event was originally brought to Kernersville by the Joseph Kerner Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and for the first time will be partnering with the Kernersville VFW Post 5352.

Helping a local man

On November 28, a Facebook post was made in the Kernersville 411 group about a local man who is in need. Kernersville 411 shares discussions, events, and is a place to find relevant content for the Kernersville community.
Heather Bowden recounted going to the gym and noticing a man sleeping on the bench. With the weather forecasting temperatures below the 20s during the night, she thought of the man’s situation and decided to help. Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that the man had a part-time job in Kernersville. He preferred to be close to work since the shelters in Winston-Salem and Greensboro are out of his range.
