MorrellJerry Morrell died Saturday January 30, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 6:00PM Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Chapel in Kernersville.
Jerry was born September 10, 1945 in Bluff City, Tennessee to the late Mary Dyche Morrell and William Jennings Bryan Morrell. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Morrell, and his son Skipper Gerald Morrell.
Jerry was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He served his country in the US Air Force including tours of duty in Vietnam. Jerry retired after a 34 year career with JC Penney. He also worked for 10 years for Carlyle & Co. Jewelers in Greensboro. He attended Triad Baptist Church. Jerry had a love for all animals, except snakes, and had a special relationship with his Blue Tick Hound dog “Wendy”. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. A master woodworker, everyone enjoys the many amazing pieces of furniture that he crafted. Cooking, fishing and camping were other favorite hobbies. He loved and cared for all of his neighbors, family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, soul mate and best friend of 24 years, Linda Morrell; daughters Amy Morrell-Terry and husband Phil Terry and Melissa Sparks and husband Bryan Sparks; step-son Eric Fidler and wife Donna; special grandchildren Skylar, Dayton, Morgan, Kameryn and Josh; sisters Evelyn Tinsley, Diana Hicks and husband Allen; nephews Jimmy Tinsley, Brandon Hicks and Shane Hicks.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Tuesday.
