Raleigh – Mrs. Sondra Sue Tipper , 78, of Raleigh died Friday, January 8, 2016 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She was born September 1, 1937 in Clarksburg, WV daughter of the late T. Joe Tipper and Loretta C. Tipper. She was a 1954 graduate of Victory High School and graduated from West Virginia University in 1960.
Mrs. Philippart was a school teacher for over 50 years in the public school system. For the last 23 years of her career, she was the music teacher at Cash Elementary School in Kernersville, NC. She dedicated her life to being a teacher and loving her children, her husband, her grandchildren, and all of her family, as well as loving the thousands of children who were fortunate enough to be her students. She was truly an amazing mom, wife, grandma, and teacher.
A private memorial service will be at a later date.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Philippart of Raleigh, one daughter, Laura Zohn and husband Bradley of Raleigh, one son, James Philippart and wife Joannie of Cary, three grandchildren, Oliver and Eleanor Zohn, and Aiden Philippart, a sister, Nancy Hufford and husband James of Reston, VA, and a brother, Joe Tipper and wife Judy Gulas of Wake Forest, NC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Cash Elementary School, Music/PE Dept., 4700 Old Hollow Rd., Kernersville, NC 27284.
