Wilson

Jane Pegg Wilson, 90, died at her home in Chattanooga, Tennessee and entered the presence of her Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2015.
She was born Sept. 21, 1924, and was the first child of Dr. Fred Pegg and wife Collie of Kernersville, NC, where she grew up. She had spent the last 21 years living in Chattanooga, near her daughter and family.
There’s not enough space in the lines of an obituary to share the life of one so precious as Jane. She never met a stranger and was a true friend to all. Jane always put others ahead of herself and was most often referred to as “the sweetest person I’ve ever known.” Her genuine love for people was always evident as she was quick to point out something special she saw in each person and they immediately realized that she genuinely cared about them. She was happy, funny, cheerful, full of kindness and extended much joy to those around her.
Jane loved the Lord, her family, music, and she loved life. “Miss Jane” taught young children in Sunday School for many years. She held office and was active in the Ladies Fellowship ministry at her church. She also held office in the Kernersville Woman’s Club. She was a substitute teacher, a secretary, a personal assistant, and more. Her dad helped to establish in her a love of music and especially hymns while she was growing up. She joined the church choir at age13 which became almost a lifetime of serving in that music ministry. She counted it joy to be a soloist at numerous weddings and funerals through many years.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and two infant babies, R. V. Wilson III, and Alice Ann Wilson. But the Lord blessed her through the years with five grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren who all survive her. They are Kelly Echols, White Salmon, WA, Paige (Jim) Batten, Apison, Joy (Chris) Petty, Ringgold, Amy (Justin) Park, Chattanooga, and Mark (Nicole) Echols of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Slater and Ember Echols, Chase, Chad, Somer, and Sydney Batten, Emily, Anna, and Caleb Petty, Mikayla, Camden, and Lane Park, and Logan and Christian Echols.
Jane is also survived by her two brothers, Bob (Joan) Pegg and Bill (Patsy) Pegg of Kernersville, NC and her sister JoAnn Burton of Winston-Salem, NC.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Ralph V. Wilson, Jr. They were sweethearts from third grade and have literally spent a lifetime together. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Jerry (“Punk”) Echols of Chattanooga. Jane was fully committed to her marriage and fully dedicated to being a precious, wonderful mother and grandmother! What a blessing she has been!
Jane Wilson was a treasure to all who knew her.
