Kernersville – Mr. Wayne Monroe Weavil passed away, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Hospice of High Point. He was born March 6, 1926 to the late Edgar Weavil and Lula Harvel Weavil.
Mr. Weavil served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, with the 507th Fighter Group in Okinawa and was a devoted member of Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 48 years. He was a farmer for all of his life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother, Edith Holder Weavil, one son Donald Wayne Weavil, one brother, Byron Weavil, step sister, Louis Smith and one step brother Pete Holder.
Surviving are his wife Betty Gibbons Weavil; one daughter Jan Weavil; one son Dale Weavil and wife Terri; three grandchildren, Matt Weavil, Lindsey Weavil Wray and husband Josh, and Josh Weavil; one great granddaughter Madyson Wray; one brother Don Weavil and wife Treva , and many special friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Hogan, and Elder Gene Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church c/o Terry Motsinger, 270 Motsinger Drive Winston Salem, NC 27107.
