State playoffs

After eight years, a young Bishop McGuinness varsity girls’ basketball team is back in previously familiar territory. The visiting Lady Villains (25-6) dominated the fourth quarter and rallied for a 48-37 victory over Mountain Heritage in the NCHSAA (North Carolina High School Athletic Association) Class 1-A West Regional championship game.
Bishop McGuinness will now play Bertie High School in the Class 1-A State Championship on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. Bertie (23-4) defeated Wilson Prep 61-58 in the Class 1-A East Regional Championship on Saturday.
