Mary Lucille “Lou” Sneed Smith, died Thursday, January 21, 2016. Lou was born December 12, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Clarence and Virgie Moody Sneed. She graduated from John W. Hanes High School a year early having skipped the 7th grade. She attended Forsyth Tech to study art and won many ribbons and awards for her oil paintings. In later years she taught an art class at Robinwood Senior Living where she made her home. Lou retired from Forsyth Hospital as a secretary and Notary in 1993 but continued to volunteer until her health failed. Lou was a member of First Christian Church of Kernersville, having been a charter member of Kernersville Church of Christ when it was formed in 1963. She was married to the late Ervin W. Smith.

Surviving are her three children, Bill Smith (Montez) of Belews Creek, Ann Hester (Mike) of Kernersville, and Bobby Smith also of Kernersville; six grandchildren, Adam and Zachary Smith, Trisha Wall, Jason and Travis Hester and Nena Eller; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Betty Jones (Jack).

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Pete Kunkle officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
