The Kernersville Police Department (KPD) is speaking out about a post that was recently being shared on the Nextdoor and Facebook social media sites.
According to the KPD, the post states a local Kernersville church was vandalized with spray paint and that the vandals left the empty cans of paint, the bag it came in and the credit card receipt from where the spray paint was purchased.
The post goes on to state that Kernersville police were called, but then reportedly recommended nothing be done, “because if they arrested the vandals it might make them mad and they might come back and do more damage,” the post stated.
In response, the KPD released the following statement about the online message on Sunday, Aug. 21:
“KPD wants to inform the public that we have looked into this accusation and have not found any records indicating such a crime.”
KPD officials also noted that if any religious organizations, private citizens, or businesses in town have fallen victim to this, they should contact the KPD at 336-996-3177 to report it.
