Ruth Frost-crop Kernersville-Ruth E. Frost, 93, “A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend of great faith and prayer!” passed away Monday, November 23, 2015. She was born March 3, 1922 in Bethel Township, Ohio to the late Scarff and Olive Artz.
Ruth attended God’s Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and did evangelistic work with her roommate travelling across the United States. Ruth and her husband Earl met through her twin sister’s boyfriend (Howard) in high school and often double-dated. After a lengthy courtship, they were married in 1943. Ruth and Earl pastored for 30 years at five different churches in Cadillac, Three Rivers, Nashville, Jackson, and Battle Creek, Michigan. Ruth was a faithful prayer warrior, and was instrumental in leading many people to the Lord.
Ruth had an adventurous and competitive spirit. She enjoyed playing games, especially ping pong, bowling, tennis and board games, and always played to win. She had a wonderful sense of humor, sparkling blue eyes, and her beautiful smile was infectious. After she and Earl retired from the ministry, she spent the summers working at Indian Lake Nazarene Campground in Vicksburg, MI, where she worked in the cafeteria as chief pie maker! She was a people person and loved to entertain. In 1999, Ruth and Earl moved to Kernersville, North Carolina to be near family. She was a loving caregiver to her husband during a lengthy illness.
While spending time with family, Ruth also enjoyed working on a variety of crafts and was active in the Senior Center in Kernersville. During her last several years, she lived with her daughters making memories that will always be treasured. Her family adored her and feel extremely blessed to have loved her and be loved by her. Her positive attitude, ability to make us laugh, and her Godly influence will remain with us forever!
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lewis Frost; grandson, Nathaniel Springer; three sisters, Jean and June, Ruby (twin); and two brothers, Kenneth and Bernard.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Kerr (Richard), Jane Wagner (Michael), Linda Whittum (Jerry), Sharon Springer (Jeff) and Denise Grimes; grandchildren, Daniel Yoder, Debra Wilson, Shelly Reed, Heather Stickler, and Amanda Springer; and four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Nate Kingsbury and the Rev. Phil Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
