Ms. Bernice James Donathan, age 84, of Colfax passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was born September 22, 1931 in Rockingham County to Luther Wesley and Lucy Everette James. Ms. Donathan was employed with the Guilford County School System working at Colfax Elementary, Northwest and Southwest Middle School cafeterias.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Ray Donathan, son in law Bobby Lee Patat Jr., and two brothers Wesley and Martin James.
Surviving is a son, Billy Ray Donathan Sr. and wife Cecelia of Kernersville; two daughters Fran Donathan Patat of Greensboro, Sandra Donathan Neugent and husband Jamie of Colfax; Grandchildren Billy Donathan Jr. and wife Catherine, Devin Donathan, Bobby Patat III and wife Ashley, Nathan Patat and wife Rachel and Rachel Murphy; Great-Grandchildren Skylar Donathan, Tripp Donathan and Leah Patat; Step Grandchildren Tonia Farmer and husband Barry, Mandy Johnson and husband Dustin, Jessica Sansbury and husband Tez, and Angela Neugent; Step Great-Grandchildren Haley Donathan, Ashley Taylor, Brayden Farmer, Brittany Johnson, Breanna Johnson, Hannah Johnson and Logan Johnson; Step Great-Great Grandchildren Taylyn Whitney and Landon Whitney; one brother William James and wife Mildred of Stokesdale; sister Evi Brown of Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday May 22 at Colfax Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Wolverton and Rev. Clay Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Colfax Baptist Church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Donathan family.
