Winston Salem- Carol Smith DeBusk, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2016 with her family at her side. Carol was born on September 2, 1944 in Forsyth County to the late Wade Wessley Smith, Sr. and Mildred Sell Smith. Carol was an active member at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and worked with the Preschool Program for a number of years. Carol always had a smile to share with everyone she met. She was filled with Christian strength and endurance that was driven by her strong devotion and love for her family and friends. Carol was a caregiver by nature, taking care of whoever needed a little help, putting everyone else above herself. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her nephew, Keith Routh. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Leroy DeBusk, of the home; two sons, Todd DeBusk (wife, Karen) and Tracy DeBusk; three grandchildren, Tyler, Adam and Savanna DeBusk; two brothers, Wade W. Smith, Jr. (wife, Mary Ann) and David K. Smith; and two sisters, Sue S. Routh (husband, Mike) and Donna S. Williard (husband, Kenny). A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Cash officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
