Charges dropped

A misdemeanor cyberstalking charge against Kernersville’s Nathan Tabor was dropped on Wednesday at the Forsyth District Court.
Mariah Patterson, an assistant district attorney in the Davidson County District Attorney’s office, dismissed the charge against Tabor with leave at the Forsyth District Court. The case was previously heard in conflict court. Conflict court deals with cases where there may be a conflict of interest. An outside judge or an outside prosecutor, in this case Patterson, is assigned to ensure impartiality. The cyberstalking charge for Tabor was made by Kerwin Baptist Church Senior Pastor Daniel Hawtree, Jr. Hawtree was represented by Harvey W. Barbee, Jr., a Kernersville attorney.
Barbee said he sent an email on Feb. 15 to Patterson which stated “my client has instructed me that he no longer wants to move with the prosecution of Mr. Tabor and wants to dismiss the cyberstalking charge.” The charge was not officially dismissed until March 15.
