Book conservator & binder

Kernersville resident Matt Johnson has a career as a book conservator and book binder, having had the opportunity to work with some unique pieces.
Some of the tools Johnson uses can be found on display in the lobby at the Walkertown Library. “My path in book binding and conservation is different than people coming into the field now,” he said. “I’m probably the last generation of people who came in as a bench training apprentice. Now, people in the conservation profession are going through accredited graduate programs.”
