Oak Ridge-“Coach” Jack Blaylock, 91, passed away peacefully April 14, 2016 at home.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:00PM Sunday April 17, 2016 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville.
A life-long resident of Guilford County, Coach was the son of the late Goldie Walker and Thomas Marion “Lan” Blaylock. He married the love of his life, Velma Jean Lewey, on November 26, 1947 and they were together 61 years until her death in August of 2009.
Survivors include his sons Steve of Winston-Salem and Jack Jr. of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren Hope and her husband John, Jackson and his wife Nicole, Taylor and his fiancé Elizabeth, and Julianne; great-grandson Jax; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.
The family will visit with friends Saturday afternoon from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Union Grove Baptist Church General Fund, or Oak Ridge Military Academy.
A very special appreciation goes to his niece Jo Ann and her husband J. C. Williams, his devoted caregivers Virginia Cummings and Cynthia McSwain, and all of the others who gave of their time, for their love and care for Jack.
