Larrimore

larrimoreSarah Virginia Flynt Larrimore, passed away surrounded by her family on November 25, 2016 at 6:15 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, December 4, 2016 in the Sanctuary of Kernersville Moravian Church with burial in God’s Acre. After the service, the family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
Sarah was the oldest daughter of Odell and Ora Mae Craven Flynt and was born at their home on South Main Street in Kernersville. She grew up on the farm, loving the outdoors, the farm animals and especially horses and her pet dogs. She graduated from Kernersville High School Class of 1954. She was employed at Western Electric Company for eight years and then became the Secretary at Sedge Garden Elementary School for twenty-two years, retiring in 1986. During her retirement years, she worked as an Interpreter and tour guide at Old Salem and as Assistant Director of The Kernersville Shepherd’s Center until retiring again in 1998. The remainder of her years, she spent volunteering at The Shepherd’s Center, Meals on Wheels, and at Kernersville Moravian Church where she had been a life long member. Her dry humor, quick wit, tenacious spirit and servant’s heart will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by one son, Richard “Rick” Larrimore Jr. of Walnut Cove; one granddaughter, SarahBeth Larrimore and her spouse Gracia O’Neill of Asheville; one grandson, Andrew Larrimore and his wife Marlana of Grant’s Pass Oregon; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Larrimore of Winston Salem; one sister, Alice Flynt Lynch of Kernersville and several cousins, friends and classmates.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Lakin Morin, Sarah’s full time caregiver. Lakin allowed us all to support Sarah to remain independent, sassy and happily in her residence until she was called joyfully home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kernersville Moravian Church Organ and Music Fund, The Shepard’s Center of Kernersville, or The Forsyth County Animal Shelter.
Piece-Jefferson Funeral Service is serving the Larrimore family. Friends and family may sign, and view the guestbook at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneralService.com
