Reynolds

ReynoldsBorn on 5 July 1927, Rena Ilene Arrington Reynolds walked that narrow trail to heaven on 23 August 2016.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, the 28th, at 2pm in the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Paul Doby officiating. Interment will be at the Gilmore Memorial Park, Liberty Rd, in Julian NC.
Born to the late Hurley Lee and Bessie Mae (Hiatt) Arrington, Miss Rena was the fifth of seven children. She was a 1944 graduate of Alamance High School where her heart was forever won by classmate Douglas W Reynolds. Married in January 1946, they raised three girls and spent 50 more years “filling the sugar bowl”.
Miss Rena began playing guitar and writing gospel music at the tender age of 15. Through the years she continued her passion for music by joining her late sister Wilma and brother-in-law, the late James G ‘Slim’ Martin. Together they played and sang for many years. Miss Rena wrote and holds copyrights to many of her numerous compilations, including “The Legend Of The Dogwood Tree” and “Narrow Trail To Heaven” which became the family mantra.
While raising her children, she could be heard on the radio and seen on television, the Greensboro Coliseum Country Shindigs and the Nashville stage; not to mention racing Harley Davidson motorcycles and winning numerous trophies at the county fairs.
Always a nurturing, loving and compassionate little lady, in every sense of the word, she was also the primary caregiver to her husband Doug, stricken with Muscular Dystrophy, for 21 years; her father for 8 years, and her mother-in-law, the late Nina C Reynolds Plaster for 5 years. Her love knew no limit nor did her knowledge of God and His holy word.
Miss Rena was predeceased by her darlin’ Doug (1996), her daughter Bonita Raye Reynolds (1979); her sisters: Mary Lee Smith, Wilma A Martin Thompson and Gladys Marie A Tudor; brothers: Clayton “Duck” Arrington and James Washington Arrington.
She is survived by her daughters: Toni Reynolds Grady and Sharron Reynolds Bullis (Allen); granddaughters: April Scott Lombardi (Antonio), Amber Simmons Brock (Don); great grandchildren: Chapell and Carlyn Brock. Also surviving is her baby brother Jimmy (Bobby) Arrington, special friend Wayne King and numerous nieces and nephews. Her precious Bella will miss their nightly bible stories.
The family will receive visitors in the Bullis home at 411 W Mountain St, Kernersville NC. Visitation will be held Saturday, the 27th, from 6-830pm at Pierce- Jefferson.
Friends and family may sign, and view the guestbook at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneralService.com
Another of God’s singers has gone home but what we hold in our hearts remains ours, unchanged forever…
