Wright

Archie Farmer Wright, 84, of Kernersville, NC passed away on November 23, 2016 after a determined battle against lymphoma. He was born October 2, 1932 in High Point, NC, eldest son of Archie Daniel Wright and Gladys Robbins Russell. He is survived by Doris Crotts Wright, beloved wife of 56 years, children Thomas Archie Wright and Robin Wright Riddle, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, as well as siblings Janice Wright Sedberry and Daniel Dean Wright.
As a veteran of the Korean War, Archie was proud of his service in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at base K13 with the 8th Fighter Bomber wing. His training in the Air Force, where he served as an aircraft mechanic, led to his employment with Remington-Rand as a sales and service representative. Later Archie operated his own business selling and servicing office machines for over 40 years.
One of Archie’s passions was coaching youths in both Pop Warner football, where he coached all age groups, and the YMCA athletic program, where he coached baseball. When he was not coaching, Archie would indulge his love of fishing, both salt and freshwater. However, both of these interests were eclipsed by his devotion to his wife and family.
Services for Archie will be held Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 6:30pm in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Dr. High Point, with visitation immediately following. The interment will be private at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting cemetery.
While flowers are welcome, memorials may also be made in lieu of flowers to either Hospice of the Piedmont, or the Korean War Veterans Project. Online condolences may be made on his memorial page at www.cumbyfuneral.com. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
