The Forsyth County Health Department on Wednesday confirmed at least 12 cases of whooping cough in four area schools, including Sedge Garden Elementary and Kernersville Middle schools. Linda Means, communicable diseases supervisor for the health department, said they are working with school officials to notify parents of students who may have come in contact with the highly contagious disease so they can seek treatment from their family doctor.
