Joanne Phipps Stewart, 75, went home to be with the Lord July 23, 2015.
Memorial Services celebrating her life will be held 6:00PM Sunday July 26, 2015 at Kernersville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Phil Hulen officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Dowell Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee.
A native of West Grove, Pennsylvania, Joanne was the daughter of the late Mary Rose Davis and Clyde Russle Phipps. She was a 1957 graduate of Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She later received a BA Degree from Shaw University. She had been employed by Guilford County for over thirty years.
She gave of herself by volunteering and most recently volunteered with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Transportation Department. She has been a member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church since 1978.
Survivors include her husband Jack Stewart of the home; son Donald Stewart and wife Donna; grandson William Stewart; brother Wilson Phipps and wife Marie of Mountain City, Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
