If the Kernersville Board of Aldermen approve of a rezoning in their next meeting, Kernersville will be getting a new restaurant in the near future. The Kernersville Planning Board unanimously approved a rezoning from MU-S (Mixed Use-Special) to MU-C (Mixed Use-Conditional Use) for 1.54 acres of properties located at 1152 Solomon Drive. Surrounding areas to the property.
The proposed restaurant is 4,000 square feet with an outdoor dining area that accommodates 20-seats. The site said to be Smithfield’s Chicken & BBQ is accessed off Solomon Drive with a right-in/right-out only, and Jag Branch Boulevard. The Solomon Drive roundabout provides a convenient traffic flow return to the Solomon Drive and Union Cross traffic light intersection. The parking, along with the drive-through stacking parking, exceeds the Town of Kernersville standards.
