Greensboro – Jean Forsyth Smith passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017, one day before her 94th birthday. She was born in Guilford County on September 25, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ray Ellison Smith; her parents Robert and Viola Forsyth; siblings, Sarah Richardson, Ruth Allen, Annie Lee Dick, Simon Forsyth and Sue Foust. Jean is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Smith and husband Audie Bloise of Moravian Falls and Lynne Smith Forrest and husband Scott Forrest of Kernersville. She is also survived by sisters Nell Byler of Matthews and Roberta Garrett of Liberty; sister-in-law Gladys Forsyth of Burlington; grandson, Chandler Forrest and wife Alisha; great granddaughter Sophia Forrest; and many nieces and nephews. Jean treasured her family and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a lifelong member of Alamance Presbyterian Church, remaining active as long as her health allowed. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Alamance Presbyterian Church, 4000 Presbyterian Church Rd. Greensboro N.C. 27406. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Alamance Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
