Skate park closed

The skate park at Fourth of July Park in Kernersville has unfortunately been closed indefinitely due to vandalism. The Kernersville Parks & Recreation Department (KPRD) made this announcement around noon yesterday.
“The skate park was vandalized. There are currently exposed electrical wires and other hazards and that is why it is closed for repairs,” said KPRD Director Ernie Pages.
There was no spray paint or graffiti involved in the vandalism. According to KPRD Marketing and Community Relations Specialist Heather Wood, “There was a lot of damage to some of the ramp and the camera at the skate park.” Woods stated that whoever vandalized the skate park “apparently knew the view” of the camera, so they were not caught on camera.
There is no timetable for when the skate park will reopen, but the KPRD wants it to reopen as soon as possible.
