Mamie was born August 13, 1921 in Stokes County to the late Andrew J. and Pearlie Nelson Bennett. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Roy M. Rierson, granddaughter Melissa Rierson Loftin, sister Hallie B. Mabe, and brother Alonzo “Lonzie” Bennett.
Left to cherish precious memories are daughter, Joanne Clinard (Ronnie), son Clarence Rierson (Tonya); three grandchildren, Tracey Redmon (Derek), Candice McNeill (Darrin) and Brian Rierson (Jason); grandson-in-law Brian Loftin; daughter-in-law Tina Hubbard Rierson; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, and Bryson Redmon; Autumn McNeill and Carson Loftin; step-grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan; brothers Swanson Bennett (Dora) and Norman Bennett (Rexine) of Kernersville; sisters, Margie Bullins of Walnut Cove, Adelene Lewis (Charles) of Kernersville and Lucille Wall of Lawsonville as well as numerous very special nieces and nephews.
Mamie dearly loved her family and their friends. Thursday nights were “family and friends’ night” where all were welcome to partake of her delicious cooking. As a homemaker, she was always a very busy woman. Quilting, crocheting, cross-stitch, gardening, and working with her flowers were some of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed traveling on bus tours and trips to the coast with Roy on their many adventures in their Winnebago camper. We have many pictures to cherish that were painted by her. She lovingly cared for many children of working mothers as well. She will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Special thanks to caregivers Julia Montgomery, Cathy Brooks, and Sherry Lewis for their loving care and devotion to our Mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Inez Hole, 1378 Hanging Rock Park Road, Danbury, NC 27106
