The Piedmont Challenger League is set to hold the athletic organization’s first-ever banquet with an event at Kernersville Wesleyan Church later this afternoon.
During its initial years, the league fielded around 30 players. Today, that number has grown to just over 100, Stewart said Tuesday.
In an article celebrating the league’s 2019 anniversary year, Stewart told the Kernersville News that the league started out playing t-ball style softball, embracing the philosophy that everyone gets to bat and everyone gets a hit. Players come from throughout the Piedmont Triad area, with most residing in area group homes.
