Parks & Rec opening

As we move into Phase 2 of the Safer at Home Order, the Kernersville Parks & Recreation Department (KPRD) has updates on park amenities. The skate park, located at Fourth of July Park, opened on Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m. The restrooms and shelters will be open starting Tuesday, May 26 from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
KPRD will begin taking shelter reservations on Tuesday, May 26. Reservations can be reserved online or via phone. Shelters, whether reserved or not, should be limited to 25 people.
Also, restrooms at other parks will be open Tuesday, May 26. The abbreviated hours vary by park. Along with Fourth of July Park, Civitan Park and Century Lake Park restrooms will be open from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Founders Park restrooms will be open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
While several things are opening up, there are others that will remain closed, including playgrounds, basketball courts, athletic fields and the Recreation Center.
What will continue to remain open to the public includes parks, tennis courts, lakes and trails (one-way only).
