Kernersville-Shelby Jean Driggers Idol, a loving mother, grandmother and friend, 78, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015. She was born October 22, 1936 in Guilford Co. to the late Harold and Kate Spears Driggers. Shelby enjoyed traveling, dancing and loved to watch her hummingbirds. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hugh Idol; sisters, Mary Roach and Carolyn Bowers; and her brother, Gerald Driggers. Surviving are her daughters, Debra Atchison and Tammy Miller; four grandchildren, Kenneth Wallace, Ashley Young, Brandi Smith and Joseph Atchison; sisters and brothers, Peggy Pendergraph, Betty Baker, Harold Driggers, Michael Driggers and Helen Whiteheart. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor John Spry and Rev. Bobby Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Abbots Creek Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
