James Cole Hester, 83 of Falls Church, VA passed away March 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Marie N. Hester and devoted son Jeffrey V. Hester. He had a distinguished career as a Foreign Service Officer in the United States Agency for International Development. James started his career in Vietnam where he met his wife. He also served in Thailand, West Africa and Nepal. James was devoted to improving the lives of the people in the countries where he served. James was born and raised in Kernersville, NC. Although his career took him to different locations around the world, he always kept North Carolina in his heart. Internment will take place today at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
