Kernersville – Mr. Alexander Constandine “Al” Harris, 77, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Oaks at Forsyth.
Al was born on May 5, 1939 in Roanoke, VA to the late Nick William and Mary Roberts Harris. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked as a truck driver for over 45 years. Al especially enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and his dog Elvis, and traveling to the beach. Al was very proud of his Greek heritage and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Timothy Dale and Anthony Eugene Harris; and two brothers, James and Michael Harris.
Surviving are his daughters, Pam Hedrick and her husband Tim of Winston-Salem, Lisa Taylor and her husband Richard of Kernersville; and Susan Wall and her husband Jon of Riverside, CA; seven grandchildren, Crystal King, Amanda Boyer and her husband Dave, Nicholas Hedrick, Austin Taylor, Jacob Wall, Ryan Taylor, Alexis Wall; and four great grandchildren, Brayden, Nolan, Mia, and Abigail. Also surviving are four brothers, Basil Harris, Harry Harris, Paul Harris, and Yani Papadimos; two sisters, Kathy Scott and Marina Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 26th in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home, 976 Phillips Avenue, High Point, with his brother Paul Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday, May 25th at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Operation North State, 151 Windemere Ct. Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
