Robert “Bobby” Jiles Furmage, IV, 28, died September 19, 2015 while hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains where he dearly loved to be with friends.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:00PM Friday September 25, 2015 at Main Street United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
A native of Forsyth County, Bobby was the son of Susan and Robert Furmage. He was a 2005 graduate of East Forsyth High School and later Western Carolina University in 2009. He was a standout football player at East Forsyth and received a Scholarship to play football at Western Carolina. He was active with the Raleigh Little Theatre and other community theatre’s in the Raleigh area.
A passion for travel led Bobby throughout the World where he cultivated his love of other cultures and traditions. His love for music opened hearts and was a great source of happiness and peace throughout his life. He always exuded such a wonderful sense of compassion and humor for everyone he met and always welcomed them with one of his giant hugs.
Family was always the most important thing in Bobby’s life and his travels always led him back home to them. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Keeter Lucas, Anne and Robert Jiles Furmage Jr., and his Uncle David Lucas.
Survivors include his parents, Susan and Robert Furmage of Kernersville, NC; Sisters Hannah Furmage Meyer and Dan of Charlotte, Audrey Furmage Wells and Andrew of High Point, and Becca Furmage Bell and Chris of Raleigh; Nieces and nephews, Abby Meyer, Lucas Wells, Wade Meyer, Bailey Wells, Oscar Bell, and Hazel Wells. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
