Reports that businesses are having trouble finding employees now that the economy is beginning to reopen as state-mandated COVID-19 closures ease aren’t just headlines on national news sites. Local businesses say they’re having trouble hiring now, too.
Many here and across the nation place much of the blame on the seemingly never-ending unemployment supplement provided to states by the federal government for employees suffering COVID-related job losses. Couple that with thousands of dollars in stimulus funds deposited to every taxpaying citizen in the country and there appears to be no incentive for the masses to return to work.
