Mary Atkins Carter, 65, of Kernersville, NC, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 13, 2021.
A native of Kernersville, NC, Mary was the wife of Wayne Carter and the daughter of Herbert Hastings Atkins, Sr. and Carolyn Marine Atkins, both deceased. She was Mom, Mamaw, Mary, Libby, Aunt Libby, Aunt Mar, Aunt Mary. She had a special heart, never met a stranger, lived to help others, and constantly put everyone before herself. She was a caretaker, counselor, record keeper, memory keeper, general go-to for anything family related. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren, hanging out on the beach with her feet in the water, being with her brothers and sisters, and spending time with her many friends. She truly lived life to the fullest the last 44 years with the love of her life Wayne.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Carter of the home; son, Joshua Carter and April of Wall-burg, NC; grandchildren, Sophie and Brodie Carter; siblings, Gwen Atkins Lord of Longs, SC, Herbert Hastings Atkins, Jr. and wife, Carol of Kernersville, Cindy Atkins Rehmar and husband, Steve of Roan Mountain, TN, and Robbie Atkins and wife Denise of Kernersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her niece, Katie Atkins.
