CART Fund Change Award

Local Kernersville resident Tom Fitzgerald was awarded the CART Fund Change Award at the Rotary Club of Kernersville’s meeting on Feb. 8.
Fitzgerald has been a Rotary Club of Kernersville member for over two decades and has been trying to help end Alzheimer’s with the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund.
“Tom had a crazy idea a few years back and that was to create small acrylic coinboxes and simply place them into local businesses, like convenience stores and restaurants. Through Tom’s ingenuity, this club has been the top fundraising club in our district for the past two years,” said CART Fund District 7690 Chair Gary Everhart Jr.
For the past two years, the idea that Fitzgerald created helped raise over $15,000 for the CART Fund, Everhart said.
