CacioppoSalvatore R., “Sam” Cacioppo, 88, of Colfax, N.C. died April 22nd, 2016.
He was born in Scranton, PA on December 31, 1927 to the late Carmelo and Onofria Arnone Cacioppo. Preceded in death April 1, 2016 by wife of 59 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Cacioppo.
Sam graduated from Scranton Technical High School class of 1945, served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. Sam worked for 49 years for Acme Market, and was an active member of SS American Legion #948 and SS Bachelors Club. Sam and Betty lived in the Nativity Section of Scranton for 51 yrs., was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, Scranton and Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kernersville, NC.
Sam was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Sam truly was the life of the party. His smile and laugher would light up any room he entered. His greatest pleasures were daily visits to Gene’s Tailor Shop, pool, bowling and time with family and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Beth Mattioli and husband, Joseph of NC, three sons, Robert Cacioppo of NY, Carmen Cacioppo and wife Kathy of MD, William Cacioppo and wife Cindy of PA, grandchildren, Tania Carter, Joseph Mattioli, Jr., Mia Turman, Daniel, Laura, Emma, Kyle, Natalie, Dana and Emily Cacioppo, five great grandchildren, brother Gene, one niece and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant, O.S.F.S., presiding.
Friends may visit Tuesday morning from 9:00-9:45 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
