When the candidate filing period ended at noon on Friday in Forsyth County, a total of 27 individuals had submitted their names for the chance to run for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) Board of Education in November. Two of the candidates are from Kernersville.
The WS/FCS Board of Education is made up of nine members elected to four-year terms of office. Two board members are elected from District 1, which encompasses much of central Winston-Salem, four members are elected from District 2, which covers all of Forsyth County not located in District 1; and three board members from the At-Large District, which includes all of Forsyth County.
