Trial by fire … that’s how Kernersville native Jeff Holt has learned the art of blacksmithing and now his work is being showcased in a local gallery. Holt, who grew up in Kernersville and graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1978, first picked up a piece of iron and heated it until pliable this past March. What did he make? Several uniquely designed knives made from railroad spikes found along the miles and miles of track here in Kernersville.
