Bear sightings

We may or may not still have at least one black bear wandering around Kernersville. At least two weeks ago, four or more individuals reported sighting a black bear in their neighborhood and in areas on Hwy. 66. About a month ago there were dozens of sightings of a black bear in Kernersville and pictures and video of the bear were taken. The bear was nicknamed “Beary” by one Kernersville resident and has a Kernersville bear sightings page on Facebook.
Most recently, NC Wildlife Resources Commission Division 7 Wildlife Biologist Jason Smith has been contacted by people in Kernersville with reports the bear is injured. For more, see the Saturday/Sunday, July 16 & 17, 2022 edition.
