On February 17, WFU Baptist Medical Center contacted the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) to report suspected child abuse involving a 5-week old male infant, according to a FCSO press release.
According to the sheriff’s office, medical evaluations of the infant determined he had serious injuries to include multiple fractures, bleeding on and within the brain, respiratory distress and other injuries to indicate severe child abuse. The infant remains hospitalized.
Based on the evidence collected to date, a Warrant for Arrest was issued on Thursday, March 20 for Edwin Douglas Allen, the father of the infant, of 6008 Cain Forest Dr., Walkertown. According to the FCSO, Allen was arrested and charged with two alleged felonious counts of (Class B2) Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury. He is incarcerated in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center under a $1,000,000.00 secured bond, according to the FCSO.
The investigation by sheriff’s investigators is continuing.
