Angel

COLFAX – Jan Clinard Angel, beloved sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She will be missed more than words can convey by those who knew and loved her.
Jan was born on June 9, 1958 to James Kenneth Clinard, Jr. and Minnie Idol Clinard. She was their oldest daughter. Growing up with two big brothers, Jan was an energetic tomboy. Later, she enjoyed and excelled at being a cheerleader for Northwest Guilford High School. Jan graduated from Northwest in 1976.
Jan’s work ethic was unmatched. She was proud to work alongside her Idol cousins at Farmers Hardware in Kernersville for 25+ years. Jan knew the customers on a first name basis and always provided them with outstanding service.
Jan would meet her future husband, best friend, and the love of her life at Farmers Hardware. Mark Angel immediately became like another son to Jan’s parents. Mark remains like a brother to Jan’s siblings. On September 1, 1991 Mark and Jan became husband and wife. They were inseparable during their 32 happy years of marriage.
Jan lived life to the fullest. She was a three-time cancer survivor and appreciated each day God gave her. Jan inspired everyone with her courage and determination to beat cancer. She endured countless chemotherapy and radiation treatments with grace and positivity.
Jan never met a stranger. She was outgoing and generous with a heart of gold. At the beginning of each new school year Jan would purchase much needed school supplies for her sister’s elementary classroom.
Jan could repair anything that was broken. She was also a highly skilled painter. In addition, Jan was a very talented cook and often made her mom’s and mother-in-law’s famous recipes.
Besides home, Jan’s favorite place was Carolina Beach. She and Mark made countless wonderful memories fishing there and experiencing the beauty of God’s creation.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Seymore Angel, and her mother-in-law, Hazel Angel. Left to cherish Jan’s precious memory are her husband, Mark Angel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Rita Clinard and Bill and Lynn Clinard; two sisters, Pamela and Patricia Clinard; a sister-in-law, Donna Angel McDaniel (husband Dan); two adored nieces, Jamie Clinard (fiancé Andrew Thomas) and Ashley McDaniel Underwood (husband Adam); two treasured nephews, Chad Clinard and Michael Shelton (wife Nikki and children Michael Lee and Braelyn); many special Idol and Smith cousins; and Jessie, Mark and Jan’s loyal dog.
A funeral service for Jan will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville chapel with Minister David Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mt. Gur Cemetery.
