2016 bond projects

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) Board of Education voted Tuesday night to continue with the 2016 bond projects, including renovations at East Forsyth High School, but if the money will actually be there at the time the projects are bid remains to be seen.
The district is facing a $63 million shortfall in bond funding due in large part to a doubling of construction costs over the last two years. At the time the bonds were planned, WS/FCS was looking at around $175 per square foot in costs, whereas today, that amount has ballooned to $350 per square foot.
