finleyMr. Johnny Ray Finley, 72, resident of Kernersville, went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2016, surrounded by his wife, family and friends.
Mr. Finley was born April 16, 1944 in Grayson County, VA and later moved to this area where he lived 51 years. He was owner of Finley Delivery Service for 33 years and also served as an evangelist of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He loved to travel, preaching and singing over the years in many different cities. He also enjoyed owning and restoring classic cars. On September 21, 1963 he married the former Carrie Wyatt who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Marie Finley McDaniel; and his brother, Eugene McDaniel.
Also surviving are three children, Sheila Cline and husband Billy of Kernersville, Johnny Ray Finley Jr. of Kernersville and Sherri Jones and husband Doug of Thomasville; two sisters, Ann Richardson of Thomasville and Karen Beeson of Colfax; and six grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Cody Jones, Madison Jones, Alexis Finley, Owen Finley and Allison Finley.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Raleigh Hayden, Rev. Leonard Repass and Rev. Billy Myrtle officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
