Rushing

Kenneth Gray Rushing, 86, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday April 11, 2017. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11:00AM Saturday April 15, 2017 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Brother Bobby Roberson and Brother Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow the service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown.
Kenneth was born October 7, 1930 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Vassie Linville Rushing and John Paul Rushing. He was also predeceased by his brother Billy Rushing.
He graduated from Walkertown High School. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Lake Champlain in the Mediterranean Sea during the Korean War. Kenneth retired after 34 years of service with Piedmont Airlines.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 64 years Jean Lenderman Rushing; daughter Debbie Rushing Bowman and husband Keith; son Todd Rushing; grandchildren Alisha Hill, Dara Daniels and Kayla Bowman; great-grandchildren Keeley Bowman, Nathen Coffield, Chaz Hill and Ty Hill; brother Harold Rushing and wife Elsie and a sister Helen Wilson.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00AM.
Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Walkertown, NC 27101.
