Connie Carter Owensby, 73, went home to be with the Lord January 9, 2020.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:30PM Sunday January 12, 2020 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Michael Gehring and Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends, immediately following the interment services, in the church fellowship hall.
A lifelong resident of Kernersville, Connie was the daughter of the late Ruth Irene Smith Carter and Fred Preston Carter. She graduated from East Forsyth High School Class of ‘64. Connie would later graduate from Guilford College with a degree in Biology, and post graduate degree in Medical Technology at Moses Cone Hospital. She practiced Medical Technology for 21 years, 19 of those were at Forsyth Hospital where she served as assistant supervisor in Microbiology. She retired to her second career at Kernersville News, the family business, where she was first vice-president and office manager.
Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, John Owensby of the home; daughters, Meredith Harrell and Barry of Greensboro, and Jennifer Eminger and Corey of Kernersville; son, Dr. John Paul Owensby and Susan of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; grandchildren, Charlie, Carter, Harrison, Nathan, Alison, and Daniel; and her brother, Frederick Carter.
