On October 9, the Kernersville Police responded to 216-29 Bost St. to attempt to serve an outstanding warrant, which had been issued for Darrell J. Akers of the Bost Street address for allegedly assaulting a female. According to a Kernersville Police Department (KPD) report, while searching the area, Akers and another male were located at the site of what is alleged to have been a working methamphetamine lab. A brief struggle ensued, but both suspects were arrested without injury.
Akers, 31, of 216-29 Bost St. Kernersville, was served with the outstanding warrant for an alleged assault on a female and new charges of allegedly manufacturing a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was denied bond on the assault charge and has a $45,000 secured bond on the drug charge. He is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Larry C. Flippo, 40, of 216-28 Bost St., was charged with allegedly manufacturing a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He is being held on a $45,000 secured bond in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation responded at the request of the KPD and dismantled the lab and conducted a hazardous material clean-up of the area and the recapture and storage of the remaining chemicals. The investigation is ongoing.
