Beyond reach … that’s how U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts described the role of the federal judiciary when it comes to political redistricting in a 5-4 opinion announced June 27.
“Partisan gerrymandering claims present political questions beyond the reach of the federal courts,” Roberts wrote for the majority of justices.
