Electronic reader boards

Earlier this month, the Kernersville Board of Aldermen opted against voting to allowing electronic reader boards because of concerns about the Town’s inability to limit where the signs might be erected and how difficult it would be to enforce. The item was presented to aldermen as a text amendment to existing sign regulations in the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance, but it came with a caveat: the Town would not be able to limit the ordinance to just fire departments, churches or schools. Once approved, any business outside of the central overlay, neighborhood and residential districts would be able to utilize electronic signs as a way of promotion.
