The last time the Kernersville News published a special section detailing Kernersville’s economic growth, Triad Business Park was a relatively new development, still looking for its first major tenant, and local leaders were discussing possible names for Kernersville’s new but not yet built hospital. That was in the spring and summer of 2008. By the end of the year, the entire nation was thrown into a recession with the collapse of the country’s housing market, and communities throughout have since been struggling to recover.
