Donald Roy Barrans, 80, peacefully went home June 28, 2019.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday July 3, 2019 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Dr. Pete Kunkle officiating. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening July 2, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.
A native of Towson, Maryland, Donald was the son of the late Inez Myrtle Fortsch and William Thomas Barrans. He graduated from Towson High School Class of ’56. He later graduated from Virginia Tech as a Second Lieutenant with the United States Army, and served as the Drum Major during his Senior year. He was retired from AAI/SMI of Cockeysville, Maryland following twenty-six years of service as an electrical design engineer.
Donald was a member of First Christian Church in Kernersville, and a longtime member, elder, and choir member of Babcock Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by his brothers Richard Edward Barrans and Paul Vincent Barrans.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Smith Barrans of the home; daughter Cindy McCarty and Dennis of West Fenwick, Delaware; son Ron Barrans and Pam of Walkertown; grandchildren Chris Barrans and Amanda, Brandon Barrans, Gavin McCarty and Bridgette, Eric McCarty and Eric, Amanda Jones and Kevin, and Kevin McCarty; and one great-granddaughter on the way; and numerous extended family and friends.
