The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education is scheduled to consider approval of a mandatory African-American history course during its meeting tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Members of the public have spent the last several years advocating before the board that an African American history class be made a requirement for graduation. Those same advocates have addressed the issue with Superintendent Angela Hairston during the first few of several community listening sessions the new superintendent is conducting across the district.
