Using the topic of World War II (WWII), Walkertown middle and high schools are engaging parents and students and encouraging them to read and learn more about the historical event. “The purpose of the program is to engage families in reading together, and it’s a way to facilitate reading and conversation and shows the students the personal connection to history,” said Walkertown Middle School Media Coordinator Gina Webster.
