Tractor trailer wreck

A tractor trailer heading east on Interstate 40 crashed and later burned Tuesday around 5:40 p.m. The incident occurred at the Macy Grove Road bridge over I-40. Miraculously, the driver, who was pulled from the wreckage, escaped without life threatening injuries and was reportedly being treated at Kernersville Medical Center, which is less than one mile from the scene. At 7 p.m., east bound traffic was still blocked, with hundreds of vehicles unable to move. Although the incident occurred just inside the Forsyth County line, law enforcement agencies responded from both Forsyth and Guilford counties, including the Kernersville and Greensboro police departments, as well as several area fire departments, including the Kernersville Fire Rescue Department.
